Daily Mile (and Lift)

Today it's been dumping freezing rain and snow all day.  I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill (and actually enjoyed it) and did a nice full body routine.  To tell you how much it snowed while I was in the gym, I came out and immediately got my van stuck in the parking lot in the snow and had to call Jeff to come and bail me out!

Feeling strong today!  Here is what I did:
Deadlift
Decline bench press
Overhead dumbbell press
Lat pull downs
Lat raises
Barbell bicep curls
Barbell skull crushers
Single arm tricep cable pull down

Overhead dumbbell press
Decline bench press, that's 75 pounds!
Deadlift 115 pounds, that's 87% of my body weight!
Plus, my sweet jaunt on the treadmill.  Last winter I actually ran in the freezing rain!  It sucks.  This was better.  There might not have been dirt, but there was definitely sweat!
3.01 miles
30:01
9:58 pace
Plus I did another quarter mile walking cool down for a total 3.2 in 33:11

Oh, and I know you're absolutely dying to know what I did yesterday, so here it is!

Teach me how to Jurek

Today Scott Jurek was at my local running store, Wasatch Running Center.  He did a group run, then talked about his book, answered questions and did a book signing.  I was so very excited to be there!  He was a very nice guy and made it a point to run a little bit with everyone in the group.  I told him that I read his book and about my first ultra.  We talked a bit about the Antelope Island runs and he asked me if I was going to do another ultra.  I told him I was going to and that I felt good afterward.  He commented that that meant I did my training right!

In from the run and geeked as ever.

Poor Katherine was having a fight with asthma today and asthma was telling her who is boss.  She just came for the book signing.

At the end of his talk he did a few give always.  I knew that the person in his book who said "Be somebody" was Dusty!  I got a package of kinesiology tape.  I've never used tape before, but hey, I have the chance to try it now.

Waiting in line.

My turn!  What a nice guy.  He was very humble and appreciative to everyone.  It was a pleasure to meet him!

Katherine and Scott

Yes, Scott Jurek, I will!

Oh, and don't forget the awesome buttons that Katherine made us and he signed!  You know this is going on my hydration pack!!!

Miles with Scott Jurek* 4.14
Time with Scott Jurek* 44:29
Pace with Scott Jurek* 10:44
*A lot of the other runners actually made it a little farther than me, because you know I was at the back of the pack.  But, hey I don't care.  I got to run with Scott Jurek!

Daily Mile, Race Week Style

Let race week begin!  Only four days left until race day!  Can you believe it?  It seems like just the other day I was sitting down to make out a training plan for this race.  Now I sit here with only two runs left until the race is underway!  The past couple of days have been pretty emotionally intense as race day gets closer and closer.  I've been feeling excited and a bit nervous going over and over things in my head.  I've packed and unpacked my Nathan pack multiple times and set out a variety of race day attire.  Plus, I'm pretty sure I'm over thinking race day nutrition, but c'est la vie! What's a girl to do?  I'm sure I'll go over it all at least a dozen more times before Saturday.

Now on to business.  I ran this afternoon.  Three miles was nice and quick and since it's a beautiful day I really enjoyed myself.  I ran without my Garmin *gasp* so I wouldn't feel pressure to run quickly, and what do ya know?  I ran quickly anyway!

I ran in my new shorts that my wonderful running buddy, Katherine got me!  They're awesome and oh so very Renee!

3 miles
32 min

That reminds me, I need to buy sunblock.
